ニューホープのサマー・プログラムの申込受付が始まりました。お話、工作、ゲームやバイブルタイム、アクティビティーなどの時間をすべて英語でします 。


日程: 7/29~8/23、8/12〜16を除いた平日。1日から全日15日間、何日でもお申し込み出来ます。

時間:午前9時~午後12時 (受付開始:午前8時45分)。預かりタイム (午後12時〜 2時)のご利用が可能です。

年齢: 3~12歳。年齢別に二つのグループに分けます。

料金: ひとり1日 ¥3,300 (全日15日間 ¥45,000)。預かりタイム料金は、一家族¥1,760です。料金をお支払い頂いた時点で予約確定となります。料金は税込です。事前に欠席のご連絡があった場合は、料金は返金いたします。

お申込みは、オンラインからお申込みできます。 定員に限りがあるので、お申込はお早めにお願いします。

持ち物: 飲み物、タオル(身に着けるようにして下さい)、上履きと着替え(小さい子クラス)。また、雨が降りそうな日は雨具(傘ではなく、レインブーツとレインコート)をご用意ください。(天候によらずほぼ毎日、公園に行きます。)預かりタイムを利用される場合は、お弁当を持参してください。

Ages: 3-12 years old. The children will be divided into a younger group and an older group.

Fees: ¥3,300 per day (¥45,000 for all 15 days) per child for the program. Extended care is ¥1,760 per day per family. Payment reserves your child's place. All fees include consumption tax. Refunds available for advanced cancelation.

Bring a drink, a towel, indoor shoes and a change of clothes (for younger children only). Also, bring rain gear (boots and raincoats, not umbrellas) for any day that it might rain. (We will go out to the park most days, rain or shine.) For children using extended care, also bring a lunch.

夏のコース:7月30日〜8月24日

ニューホープのサマー・プログラムの申込受付が始まりました。お話、工作、ゲーム、バイブルやアクティビティーなどの時間をすべて英語でします。



日時: 7/30~8/24、月曜日から金曜日(8/13~17は除く)午前10時30分~午後1時30分 (受付開始:午前10時15分)延長預かり:午前9時30分~午後10時15分、午後1時30分~午後2時30分。

年齢: 3~6歳(年長まで)、 6~12歳(小学1年生から6年生まで)。
料金: 15日間参加¥48,000、1日 ¥4,000。兄弟割は、それぞれ10%オフとなります。料金をお支払い頂いた時点で予約確定となります。7/27以降のキャンセルは、ご返金できません。料金はすべて税込です
朝の預かり:午前9時30分 ~午前10時15分、 ¥800(1日一家族)、放課後預かり:午後1時30分~午後2時30分、¥1000(1日一家族)。
お申し込みは、申込書をニューホープ・スクール・オフィスまでご提出していただくか、または、オンライン(園児向けプログラム)  (小学生向けプログラム)からも可能です。 定員に限るがあるので、お申込はお早めにお願いします。
持ち物: お弁当、飲み物、タオル、歯ブラシ、コップ。加えて、園児の方は、上履きと着替え、小学生は、ノート、筆記用具。
*小学生のプログラムは、成増5-1-3、プリスクールの隣のビルです。

Pencil Inventions

Our summer school theme for elementary kids this year is inventions. Today's project was to design a better pencil and make a poster presentation about it. Enjoy!

Summer Preschool: Health and Fitness Theme

It's hard to believe that Summer Preschool has finished for 2010. This week's theme was health and fitness. Monday, we learned about the importance of rest. We talked about bedtime routines and did some sequencing activities. Sorry we don't have pictures but you can print out the Blue's Clues bedtime routine cards that we adapted.

Tuesday and Wednesday were about exercise. Miss Lindsey taught a fun dance to You Are Good by Israel and New Breed. As you can see from the blurry photo, the kids got a lot of exercise.


The children exercised their fine motor skills with a baseball lacing project.


Concentration.


The satisfaction of a job well done.

We ran our own egg and spoon race, substituting a ball and toy frying pan.



We also exercised outdoors with a tug-of-war,  bucket relay and jump ropes but the camera didn't find it's way outside.

Thursday was about hygiene. Children made their own "Clean and Healthy" books.


They got germs (glittery powder really) all over their hands and learned how to wash their hands thoroughly.





Friday was nutrition day. We read Eric Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar which teaches about (among other things) healthy and moderate eating. Later, the children listened to the Wiggles' Fruit Salad and made their own fruit salad. They were proud to "cook" their own food.






In all, it was a wonderful month of summer school. I'm full of gratitude to the children, parents, and staff who made it possible.

Summer Preschool: Zoo Theme

This week's summer preschool theme was "Going to the Zoo!" We began with Eric Carle's Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? and listened to recordings of the animal sounds featured in the book. We made play dough from a recipe and shaped it into zoo animals.



We read Curious George Visits the Zoo, did some monkey games and played with balloons. We read Eric Carle's From Head to Toe and got a good workout mimicking all the exercises the animals do in the book.

We used blocks and little animal figures to make our own zoos. The boys below are working on the aquatic part of their zoo.


We made paper bag zoo-animal puppets (which we unfortunately don't have pictures of).

We read about Elmer the patchwork elephant and made our own "Elmers" by dipping paper towel wads into paint and applying it to elephant outlines.




We read Eric Carle's 1,2,3 to the Zoo: A Counting Book, (can you tell we're big Eric Carle fans?) and counted and sang along with a song that a friend wrote to go with the book.

We made small groups and collaborated to design and draw zoos on big pieces of paper.




We made zoo-animal masks.



And between all the zoo activities, the children had a chance to eat lunch together, play some games, have Bible time, learn a dance and play at the park. What a fun and busy week!

Zoo Week Preview

Our theme in Summer Preschool next week is "Going to the Zoo!" The first day, we will use Eric Carle's book Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? in which different zoo animals are asked what they hear, with each answer leading to the next animal. See if you can pick out the sounds below, in order from the book. Put your guesses in the comments if you like. (You can cheat by hovering over the links.)

Community Helpers: Letter Carriers

Last Friday we failed to take even one picture. Sorry! The children enjoyed learning about letter carriers. We put a mail box in the classroom. Children wrote letters to their friends in the morning and put them in the mail box. The letters were delivered after lunch. (Just a second--I'll take a picture of the mail box. Okay, here it is.)



Later in the afternoon, children wrote letters home, stamped and sealed the envelopes and we sent them in the real mail. I hope you've received the letters by now.

Please stay cool somehow on these hot days and enjoy the week off.

Community Helpers: Firefighters

Today's Summer Preschool Community Helpers were firefighters! Children went outside at park time to find a raging inferno (or at least chalk drawings of fire on rocks)!


The quick-thinking students filled buckets with water, ran to the fire, . . .


and extinguished it in the nick of time.


Back inside for gym class, there was a firefighter obstacle course with ladder walking, fire jumping, and flaming hoop diving.




After Mrs. Ellen's Bible lesson about the fifth day of creation, children sorted animals into things that fly in the sky and things that live in the sea.




I like that the flying fish is in the sky.
